We are highly evolved feelers and gatherers and distributors of information. I have a theory that Genesis is about our transition from just sensing (feeling) the world outside without a sense of identity to the establishment of our sense of independent self. When we became self-aware and conscious. Suddenly now we were with our own unique data and trying to communicate it with each other. This episode explores this and what it meant for our evolution and what it means for our future.
Julian Jayne's Bicameral Mind theory about the development of consciousness and the relatively recent timing of it as well as his theory that it kickstarted with language also supports my interpretation of 'The Fall' and how it came about. You can find more information about that on the episode page for Job and The Bicameral Mind. The video here on Information Theory from the Khan Academy also seems to show that language, the symbolization of information that represents something else...that is also made up of information a good primer in some of these ideas and this density that we developed of language was a 'level up' for us in terms of consciousness but also resulted in our sense of separate self.
Jo is the host of the podcast I Have A Theory which explores intersections between physics, metaphysics, religion, society, consciousness, and being. She is also a fashion designer, artist, and aspiring nomad.
